Charles Thomas Spuhler, 63, died June 14, 1998 at home, surrounded by his family.

Born October 16, 1934 in Reading, PA, to LeRoy and Daisy Block Spuhler. Married Ruth Reed in Midvale, Utah on June 28, 1985. After Charles' service in the U.S. Navy, from Nov. 7, 1951, to May 26, 1954, he accomplished many goals and touched a great number of lives. In the 50's and 60's he owned his own business in Sinton, Texas, the Spuhler Glass Company. After graduating from Bethany Nazarene College in the 70's, he pastored churches in Okemah and Fairfax, Oklahoma. Later, Charles worked for and eventually owned his own Circle K store. He served in the capacity of Division Training Manager for the states of Utah, Idaho and Colorado until the time of his death. At home, his talent was shown through his woodwork made for his friends and family. There seemed to be nothing that he couldn't accomplish. Charles was an Elk member for 16 years and served as Exalted Ruler in 1985-86. Besides the love he had for his wife and family, he loved to play golf, to travel, play cards, bowl, and to watch John Wayne movies, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Utah Jazz.Survived by wife, Ruth; children, Cheryl Council (Paul), Phoenix, AZ; Charles Timothy Spuhler (Carmen), Salem, OR; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; stepchildren, Michael Reed (Sheila), Joanie Tidwell (Gary), Jamie Reed; ten stepgrandchildren; brothers, George Spuhler (Izi), Wyomissing, PA; Bill Spuhler (Helen), Temple, PA; sisters, Rosella Bittler (Harold), Pottstown, PA; Miriam Miskin (Michael), Pottstown, PA; Mary DiPietro (Chic), Reading, PA. Preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Roy J. Also survived by brother and sisters-in-law, LaRene Serdar (Chuck), Sandy; Lorraine Tischner (Red), Kearns; Jay Mounteer (Bonnie), St. George; Cherri Parduhn (Brent), Riverton.

Funeral services Friday, June 19, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
