Dorothy Jean Nelson Ellett, age 70, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Friday, June, 12, 1998 in Logan, Utah, at the home of her daughter. Her death resulted from kidney and heart failure.

Dorothy was born on April 18, 1928 in Fremont, Utah. She was the youngest of eight children born to Lewis Peter and Della Taylor Nelson. She married her high school sweetheart, Mont R. Ellett on November 22, 1946 in Fremont; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Dorothy and Mont lived in Portsmouth, VA (active duty in the Navy); Provo, Utah (student at BYU); Bremerton WA (recall to active duty); Provo, Utah (Back to BYU for graduate studies); Sunnyvale, CA (employment at Lockheed Research Lab); Scottsdale, AZ (employment at Motorola); and Bicknell, Utah (teaching math at Wayne High School and being involved at Navajo Trails Youth Camp.)While living in Sunnyvale and after the arrival of her fourth child, she began a lifelong battle with rheumatoid Arthritis. In spite of the many adjustment and life style changes that resulted from this crippling disease, she continued to nurture her young family, both physically and spiritually. Her testimony of Eternal Life made her greatest tragedy bearable. Namely, the loss of her eldest son, 17 year old Edward, to cancer.

Dorothy enjoyed callings in Sunday School, Primary, MIA and Relief Society. A favorite was that of Visiting Teacher. She also supported Mont during 10 years of Scoutmaster service. As a Daughter of Utah Pioneers, she was grateful for stalwart ancestors and especially for the legacy of pioneering given by her own mother. She enjoyed her 26 year involvement with Navajo Trails Youth Camp and the world-wide, lifelong associations it created. Since retirement, her time was devoted to her three living children and her 14 grandchildren. Dorothy's frail and weak body has ceased to function but her love, her testimony and her spirit will remain with us forever.

She is survived by her husband, Mont of Bicknell; her children: Paula Jean and Gerry Still, of Scottsdale, AZ; Nancy Puhlmann, of Logan; Mark Nelson and Marcie Ellett, of South Jordan; grandchildren, Matt, Brad, Andrea and Suzie Still; Heidi, Natalie, Kristi, Jamie and Derek Puhlmann; Jenifer, Kevin, Stefanie, Ryan and Katie Ellett; sisters and brothers: Ione and Wayne Blackburn, Vern Nelson, Berneal and Dee Hatch, Lars and Anita Nelson, Etta Nelson, all of Loa; Twila and Fremon Sorensen, of Lyman; Ellen and Willis Spafford, of Richfield. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Kelly Ellett; a brother, Kirk Nelson; and her parents.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 1998 at 1 p.m. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
