Russ Ortiz struck out 12 batters and Armando Rios singled home the go-ahead run as Fresno defeated Salt Lake 3-2 in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday night.
The victory was Fresno's 11th straight and 17th in a row at home. The Buzz have lost four straight.Ortiz (3-0) picked up the win, allowing six hits in 62/3 innings. Jeff Darwin earned his 11th save for the Grizzlies. Frank Rodriguez (2-6) took the loss.
Fresno took a 1-0 lead in the first when Rios doubled home Wilson Delgado. Chad Rupp homered in the second for Salt Lake to tie.
Rios' single to right field scored Dante Powell to put Fresno ahead for good in the fifth inning.
