I have been a resident of Murray for 35 years and I am proud of Murray. But I see no good reason to increase our tax to save a fixture (with no beauty) just to look at. It would be like preserving a weed in a beautiful flower garden at a great expense just because it was already there. The stacks would detract rather than enhance the beautiful development planned for that area.
If my neighbor citizens want to remember the stacks, then I recommend they have several pictures taken with themselves standing beside the stacks. They can hang the pictures in their home where they can enjoy the memory of the stacks in privacy without imposing a tax on all Murray property owners. Please note that the current owners of the stacks are responsible for taking them down at their own expense. There will be no expense to the city if we vote no on the bond issue.
