Police Tuesday arrested a real estate agent who they say used a stun gun to try to assault a former co-worker in a West Jordan neighborhood last week.

The man, who was fired from his job about six weeks ago, apparently blamed his female co-worker for getting him fired, West Jordan Police Capt. Randy Johnson said.On June 11, the man called the real estate office and - using a false name - told the woman he wanted to look at several houses she was trying to sell. She agreed to meet him at 8585 S. Redwood Road.

Once at the home, the suspect accused the woman of getting him fired and tried to sexually assault her and force her into his vehicle, Johnson said. She resisted him both verbally and physically, but the man used a stun gun several times to try to subdue her.

The woman was able to escape and ran to Redwood Road where she flagged down a motorist and asked to be taken to the police station. The woman suffered only minor injuries, Johnson said.

On Tuesday, an acquaintance of the suspect alerted police that the man was in Springville. A 49-year-old West Valley man was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper and booked into jail for investigation of aggravated sexual assault.
