HALL OF FAMERS: Brigham Young University and the BYU Cougar Club will be honoring four outstanding former athletes and a retiring athletic administrator at the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet this Thursday.

Former women's athletic administrator Lu Wallace and BYU All-Americans Ed Eyestone, Tresa Spaulding Hamson, Tristan Baker-Schultz and Michael Smith will receive the university's highest athletic honor when they are inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in the 22nd annual ceremonies in Cougar Stadium's Cougar Room.

The BYU Athletic Hall of Fame is sponsored by the BYU Cougar Club. Master of ceremonies for the induction banquet will be Athletic Director Rondo Fehlberg; BYU President Merrill J. Bateman and Cougar Club National President Lee Brower will attend the induction, as will new BYU Advancement Vice President K. Fred Skousen.

SEARS CUP: BYU finished 18th in the final 1997-98 Division I Sears Directors' Cup with 360 points, according to a NACDA release this week.

Stanford won the Sears Cup for the fourth year in a row, amassing 1,010 points this season. In second place was Florida and North Carolina at 660, UCLA at 630, Michigan 620, Arizona 510, Georgia 500, Washington 460, Nebraska 450 and LSU and Southern California at 440.

Utah finished 37th with 240 points, followed by Fresno State tied for 38th at 230. Utah State finished 117th with 50 points and Weber State was 142nd with 30 points.

RODEO: The Western Texas College women had 200 points while the defending champion, Weber State, had 190 to lead the 49th College National Finals rodeo in Rapid City, S.D. Lewis-Clark State College was third with 155.

Panhandle State University in Oklahoma, the defending men's team champion, led the men's division after Wednesday's events with 372 points.
