The University of Utah seismograph station reported a magnitude 4.2 earthquake which occurred at 5 a.m. Thursday in south central Utah.

The epicenter of the shock was 11 miles north-northwest of Panguitch, 200 miles south of Salt Lake City. The earthquake was felt in the Panguitch area.The shock is one of the largest in an ongoing swarm of earthquakes occurring northwest of Panguitch in the past year. The largest shock of the sequence, a magnitude 4.4 quake, occurred Aug. 13, 1997.
