We just finished reading Doug Robinson's column in the Friday, June 12, sports section, and we are very disappointed that one of our own reporters would write such a negative article. We would expect to read something like this in the Chicago newspapers.

It seems that a lot of people stand behind the Jazz when they are on top and winning, but when they lose a couple of games, they are the first ones off the bandwagon and are forming a lynch party.Your remarks referring to members of the team, as well as the coach, were uncalled for. Stockton and Malone have sacrificed greatly for the Jazz and our state by staying here.

We realize this past week the Jazz did not play as well as they are capable of; however, instead of beating people into the ground, why not lift them up and encourage them to do better. How do you think they feel when they read their own local newspapers, and the reporters are trashing them just as bad, if not worse, than their opponents?

There is an old saying that says "You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar." The same goes for people.

We would hope the reporters and people of Utah will stand behind our team and congratulate them on a job well done. They have brought an excitement and unity to this state that can't easily be duplicated.

Doug Robinson hasn't lost a reader; he's lost three of them, and if you find them please contact Lost and Found.
