Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is offering scholarships for swimming lessons, tee-ball, soccer, flag football and tennis.

Last year, the county awarded 850 scholarships to children from low-income families. More scholarships are expected this year. Scholarship money is provided by private donations from individuals, companies and organizations throughout Salt Lake County. To qualify for a scholarship, parents or guardians are required to complete a fee-waiver application form available at all county facilities and provide proof of eligibility and income.

Participants must pay a $5 registration fee per activity and are limited to three scholarships for activities or sports a year. There are partial fee waivers available for those with family incomes above the scholarship guidelines.
