The City Council adopted a $90 million budget for fiscal 1998-99 Tuesday night that includes several fee increases.

The city will now charge anywhere from 10 percent to 30 percent more for parks and recreation programs such as soccer, baseball and facilities rentals. The council, however, deleted a provision in the budget that would allow the fees to go up on an annual basis without review. The garbage collection fee went from $9 a month to $9.50 in the new budget. Officials said the increase is needed to cover higher dumping charges at the landfill.

In a separate vote, the council also raised the Storm Water Service District fee from $2.43 per month to $3. The fee will rise to $3.50 over the next three years to fund a series of long-planned improvement projects.
