Two men have been charged with the murder of a Murray man two years ago.

Jody Allen Carroll, 20, Sandy, and Jason "Dopey" Randy Biggs, 23, address unknown, were charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony, in connection with the shooting death of Kenny Leiter, 18, on Jan. 2, 1996.A $500,000 warrant has been issued for Biggs' arrest. Carroll is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Police said Leiter and his girlfriend were walking home after picking up some groceries at a nearby convenience store when he had an altercation with a man in the parking lot of his condominium, 46 W. Lester Lane (6790 South).

Carroll, Biggs and a third man apparently had planned to beat Leiter, whom they "believed to be a member of a rival gang," the charges state.

Carroll was beating Leiter with a tire iron when Biggs approached him from behind and fired a gun six times, the charges state. Only the last shot actually fired a bullet, hitting Leiter in the chest.
