A Salt Lake County man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery two years ago.

On Oct. 29, 1996, a man entered Bank One, 4065 W. 3500 South, shortly after 2 p.m. and, stating that he had a gun, demanded money from a teller, according to 3rd District Court charges filed Tuesday. During the robbery, a dye pack exploded, spraying the man's face and staining the car used in the escape.A woman later told police that her boyfriend had told her "he was going to rob a bank and that after the bank robbery (he) admitted he robbed the bank," the charges state. The woman also led police to the car used in the escape, which was found to be stained from the same dye pack that exploded inside the bank.

The charges state the boyfriend admitted to police that he committed the robbery.

The man, 23, has been charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
