Auditions have been scheduled for the following local stage productions:
- The Trail of Dreams, on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the SCERA Center, Orem.Come prepared with 16 bars of a musical theater song. An accompanist will be provided (no pre-taped music, please). Au-di-tion-ers will also be asked to perform a one-minute reading or monologue.
All roles are open in the Mormon Pioneer musical, written by James Arrington, Marvin Payne and Steven Kapp Perry. There are roles for adults of any age and description, both male and female. Specific roles for younger actors include two girls, 6 to 10 years of age; one boy, 10 to 13, and a boy and girl, both 16 to 19.
European accents would be useful.
"Trail of Dreams" will open this fall, formally inaugurating the SCERA Center's new live-theater space. It is scheduled to run four nights a week from Oct. 1 through Thanksgiving. All acting positions will be paid.
Callbacks will be held on Tuesday evening, June 23, and Saturday afternoon, June 27.
- Brigadoon, on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Grand Theatre, Salt Lake Community College south city campus, 1575 S. State.
Come prepared with a 16-bar audition song (accompanist provided). Auditioners will also be asked to learn a dance routine (dress appropriately). Please bring a current photograph, if possible, and resume. All roles in the Lerner and Lowe musical, being directed by Maikel Bailey, are open.
"Brigadoon" runs Sept. 11-26.
- The Wooing and Wowing of Esmeralda, a commedia style play, on Tuesday, June 23, at 5 p.m. in Salt Lake Community College's Alder Amphitheater, located on the school's Redwood campus, 4600 S. Redwood Road.
These auditions will be for both the production itself and the Greenshow performances. Wear comfortable clothing. The minimum age is 12.
