A Salt Lake computer circuit manufacturing company was evacuated early Thursday morning after employees found a fire in its building.
Salt Lake City firefighters took about 25 minutes to get the 2 a.m fire under control, Salt Lake fire Capt. Devin Villa said. The fire was discovered in the flue system of Compeq International Corp., 620 N. John Glenn Rd. (6070 West). The company manufactures printed computer circuit boards. The 100 employees evacuated themselves prior to the fire department's arrival, Villa said.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
No one was injured.
Early estimates place damages at approximately $50,000. A sprinkler system in the flue and oven in the manufacturing portion of the business was instrumental in getting the fire out quickly, Villa said.
Three engines, one ladder truck, one utility unit and 18 firefighters responded to the fire, he said.
