The Utah State Division of the American Association of University Women recently named Jeanette Misaka as Distinguished Woman of the Year.

Misaka is a third-generation Japanese-American whose early education was in internment camps in California and Wyoming. She is a professor emeritus at the University of Utah. She is also a member of the Task Force of the State Office of Education for Students at Risk and a consultant for school districts throughout the state on behavioral disorders, laws, parenting and gifted children. She has served on numerous state and national councils.
