The Episcopal Diocese of Utah is distributing nearly $500,000 to social service agencies throughout Utah as part of its annual Charitable Grant Fund.
A total of 68 agencies in 16 communities will benefit from this year's fund. Salt Lake area agencies include: Utah Children, Utah Issues, Utah Alcoholism Foundation's Alcohol Treatment Center, Valley Mental Health, Assist Inc., Cancer Wellness House, Children's Service Society of Utah, Easter Seal Society of Utah.Rise Inc., Transitional Living Center, Turn Community Services, Utah Independent Living Center, Centro de la Familia de Utah, Community Counseling Center, Intermountain Specialized Abuse Treatment Center, Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake, Rape Recovery Center, South Valley Sanctuary, YWCA of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Donated Dental Services, The Arc of Utah, The Children's Center, The Haven.
The Utah AIDS Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy, Utah Caring Foundation, Guadalupe Schools Educational Programs, Homeless Youth Resource Center, Indian Walk-In Center, Lifecare, Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity, Utah Food Bank, Utah Girl Scout Council, Utah Legal Services and Wasatch Community Gardens.
The focus of the program is in the areas of poverty, physical and mental disabilities, alcohol or drug dependency and domestic violence. The diocese is also interested in funding agencies who provide a voice for advocacy groups with little influence in the community.
