A groundbreaking ceremony in Albuquerque this morning marked the beginning of construction of a temple for 55,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints there.

Elder Lynn A. Mickelsen, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and president of the LDS Church's North America Southwest Area, presided at the 9 a.m. service.The Albuquerque temple will join 52 others around the world, and LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley has announced plans for an even 100 in operation by the turn of the century.
