A man was killed when a train struck his truck early Friday.

Killed was:Boyd Ringel, 38, West Weber.

About 12:15 a.m., a 12,000-ton Union Pacific train westbound on 1200 South struck a pickup truck southbound on 2800 West, said Weber County deputy sheriff Leslie Townsend.

Eyewitnesses told police the truck, driven by Ringel, "pulled onto the tracks in front of the train and stopped," Townsend said. The railroad flashing lights and warning bells had turned on before the impact.

The train engineer also stated "the driver of the pickup seemed to be looking right at the train before impact," Townsend said.
