Ila Ruby Casto Miller, 95, passed away at Mayfield Community Care Center on June 17, 1998.
She was born November 19, 1902 in Salina, Utah to Abel Nephi and Eliza Jane Manning Casto.Ila grew up in Salina, Utah. The rock home she was born in still stands. She spent her summers on the family homestead in Gooseberry, 10 miles east of Salina. She rode horses well. She went to the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, for two years, then returned to teach fourth grade in the Salina school. Later in life after the children were raised she went back to college for another year to get an Oregon teachers certificate. She attended Southern Oregon College. She married Janus Wayne Miller in the Manti Temple on September 12, 1923 and gave birth to five children, Magdalene Leimomi, Donna Ila, Milo Janus, Lyda Jeanene and Robert Wayne Janus. They kept moving-looking for employment, lived many places, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington and Missouri. She and Janus last lived in Ephraim, Utah. Before going to the Mayfield Community Care Center, their daughter, Magdalene I. Nordmark came to take care of them on March 2, 1987. She stayed with Ila until she went to the Mayfield Community Care Center, September, 1991.
Survived by children, Magdalene Leimomi Nordmark, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Lyda Jeanene Janssie, Malad, ID; Dr. Robert Wayne Miller, DMD, Palos, CA; 26 grandchildren; 64 great-gandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 22, at 11 a.m. in the Ephraim Stake Center. Friends and family may call at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial, Manti Cemetery.
