Donna Maxfield, right, waits with her grandchildren, K.C., 6, and Ali, 7, for Pony Express riders to arrive Saturday near Murray Park, 5200 S. State. The 138th Anniversary Rerun of the Pony Express left Sacramento, Calif., on Tuesday and will arrive in St. Joseph, Miss., on Friday after riding 1,966 miles over eight states, using 500 horses and riders. Maxfield's re-enactment group covers a third of the Utah section every year. The Pony Express carried letters and telegrams between Sacramento and St. Joseph from April 1860 to October 1861.
