All season, the Utah Catzz have been unable to put together an entire game of football. The Catzz generally start slowly, but this time Utah scored 16 points in the first half but was shut out in the second half, losing 43-16 to the Louisiana Bayou Beast.
Doug Beach put Utah on the scoreboard with a 30-yard field goal. Joe Borich kept Utah close with a 3-yard scoring run and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Keehan as Utah trailed just 22-16 at halftime. But dropped passes and a tough Louisiana defense bottled up Utah."The light at the end of the tunnel got very dark," Utah owner Michael Curran said after the game. We never found the beacon."
The Beast's top ranked defense pushed its record to 7-1, just one game behind league-leading Colorado, while the loss dropped Utah to 3-6 on the season. Louisiana was able to play a good ball-control game, forcing Utah to play defense most of the second half.
After playing on the road for the last month, Utah finally returns home for a game against the Honolulu Hurricanes Saturday. Since Utah and Hawaii have several Polynesian players on their rosters, the game could be a real family feud.
