Tom Hanks went to Savannah, Ga., in "Forrest Gump." Clint Eastwood moved in to make "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Now, John Travolta is heading there to use the colonial Georgia capital known as "The Jewel of the South" for a movie backdrop.

Travolta will star in "The General's Daughter," a military thriller based on Nelson DeMille's novel about the rape and murder of a West Point graduate who is the daughter of a legendary general.Directing will be Simon West, best known for "Con Air." Filming is scheduled to begin next month.
