A black Louisiana man who claimed a week ago that three white men dragged him alongside their car, taunting him with racial epithets, has admitted he lied to cover up a bungled drug deal, police said.

Cornelius Weaver, 23, of Slidell, near New Orleans, confessed Friday that he was hurt on June 13 while trying to get back three rocks of crack cocaine after two white women paid for the drugs with a crumpled piece of paper, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department spokesman James Hartman said.
