Kathleen Annie Breslin Robinson, age 88, died peacefully June 18, 1998 in Murray, Utah of natural causes incident to age.
She was born September 16, 1909 Sutton-in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England to James Breslin and Addieliza Turner. After the death of her grandparents, she lived in Elphin, Ireland. She then immigrated to the United States of America in the spring of 1926 on the vessel S.S. Samaria. She was 16 years of age when she made the journey alone to Utah. She was left behind in England until her family saved enough to pay for her passage.She married Lynn T. Robinson April 30, 1927. They were later sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple, September 18, 1946. Lynn died November 2, 1993.
A cherished memory for her was sleeping with her grandma in a bed with a canopy. Every night she read a chapter of the Bible to her grandmother. She loved to play in the Sherwood forest of Robin Hood and in the green fields of Ireland. She worked for Richards Candy Company. Then, for 18 years she was a receptionist-secretary for doctor Richard W. Sonntag, an eye surgeon. She retired in 1969 to build a dream cabin with her husband at Sundance. She enjoyed vacations with her companion to Arizona. For years, with her friends the Bullocks, she participated in programs for the elderly in rest homes. A weekly meeting was held at the Highland Manor Rest Home. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in such positions as President of the Mutual, Activity Director of the MIA, and Junior Sunday School Teacher. She loved children, and spent a lifetime teaching her "little ones" to love the Lord. In 1930 she used her beautiful voice in the Tabernacle singing the "Message of the Ages Pageant" to commemorate 100 years of Mormonism. She hand knitted beautiful sweaters and afghans. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She enjoyed reading, she loved her family, her sisters, and her brother, and she loved America.
She was the mother of five sons; two were stillborn, and two died at birth.
Survivors, three sisters, Molly, Edan, and Pauline; half-sister, Colleen and half-brother, Sonny; son, Talmadge (Bonnie); five grandchildren, Lanette, Lane, Julie, Carolyn, and Amy; and 13 great-grandchildren, Kerry, Bonnie, James, Ryan, Megan, Nathaniel, Brandon, Cayla, Kathleen, Michael T., Maren, Kenny D., and Kristyn.
Funeral services will held Monday, June 22, 1998, at 12 noon, Winder Sixth Ward, 4366 South 1500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 West 700 South, Sunday, June 21, 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Church on Monday 10:45-11:45 a.m. Burial at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2300 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah
