Ilene Kendel Parker, 68, died June 16, 1998 in Kensington, London, England of heart failure.
Ilene was born February 1, 1930, in Uintah, the daughter of Parley Prophet and nellie Mae Russell Kendell. She married Clyde A. Parker on December 27, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Ilene tatended a two room elementary school in Uintah. She graduated form Weber High School and from Weber Junior college. While raising her fmaily she graduated from Brigham Young University, receiving her degree in Child and Family Development.
Ilene was born and raised on the Kendell family homestead, which she dearly loved. Ilene and Clyde began their family in the Provo area and lived there until the mid 1960's. The family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where they lived for 18 years, including one year in New Dehli, India. The family then returned to Ogden, where they continued to reside.
Ilene was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, inlcuding Young Womens mission respresentative in the Northern Central State Mission, Relief Society President and in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. She served on the Young Women's General Board with Elaine Cannon. Since 1984, Ilene has served as a Church Service Mission Hostess at both the Beehive House and Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Ilene will always be affectionately remembered by the primary children as "Sister Friendly."
Ilene was an active participating member of the Republican party in Minnesota and Utah. While living in India her compassion for others was expressed in her volunteer work with the Mobil Cresch, a part-time volunteer school for the children of migrant workers. She served two terms on the YCC governing board and was an active member on the Weber State Unviersity Alumni.
Ilene made friends everywhere she went. She touchedpeople deeply and her life was an act of love extended to everyone she met. Ilene will be missed by members of her family, countless friends and most of all her grandchildren.
Ilene is survived by her husband Clyde of Ogden; two sons and two daughters, Thomas C. (Trina) Parker, North Ogden; Greag K. Parker, Ogden; Cami P. (Ric) Egbert and Lisa Marie Parker, both of South Ogden, and 13 grandchildren. Also survivng are five brothers and one sister, Dee (Naomi) Kendell, Unitah; Wllace (June) Kendell, Orem; Blaine (Ruth) Kendell, North Ogden; Jay (Elaine) Kendell, Unitah; Grant (Annie) Jacobs, Ogden; and Norma Kendell (Julian) Geiger, Ogden.
Ilene was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Leah Kendell Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Unitah 1st Ward Chapel, 6660 South 1775 East, with Bishop Craig Hazen officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Unitah Cemetery.
