More than 720,000 beverage cans will roll off the production line daily at Swire Coca-Cola's new plant at 12634 S. 265 West that was officially opened Monday with a building christening and tours.
For several years, the company has been operating out of small distribution centers in Salt Lake City, Provo and West Valley City, and now the company's new consolidated building means a more efficient operation. The complex has three buildings on 65 acres and features a warehouse, a distribution center, a vehicle maintenance facility, a vending machine refurbishment center and corporate offices. Employees from the other facilities have been relocated to the new center.
Helping christen the new building were representatives from Hong Kong who broke a bottle of Coke Classic against the building. In addition to tours, Draper City Fire Department employees sprayed red-colored water while a truckload of Coca-Cola products left the new building.
