Vern Shaw, age 79, died June 20, 1998, in Salt Lake City.
Born April 10, 1919, in Aurora, Utah, to William Hartley and Mary Jeanette Harding Shaw. Married Elody Hardward on June 12, 1946, in Aurora, Utah, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She died March 19, 1982. Married Verla Russell on December 24, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nevana.Vern was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Infantry 10th Mountain Division and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. Member of the LDS Church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sports, camping and golf.

Survived by wife; children, Beverly (Mike) Iverson, Dave (Karen) Shaw, Jean (David) Larsen, Chris (Pamala) Shaw; six stepchildren, 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Etha Hansen, Deon Taylor, Leo Shaw, Lois Jones, Roa (Wendell) Mason, Carol (Arva) Shaw, Fonda (Evan) Kennedy, Gail (Mary) Shaw.
Preceded in death by a sister Utahna Ainsworth.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Aurora City Cemetery.
