Jewel Miller Deakin, age 80, passed away Saturday, June 20, 1998, from congestive heart failure.
She was born August 26, 1917, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Alva (Kinky) Eugene Miller and Maud Nichols. She married Max Howard Deakin on July 26, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church and taught several Primary classes. She loved the Cub Scouts and for many years was a den mother. Her life was devoted to her husband and family and she loved being of service to them. She loved her home in West Jordan where she lived for 49 years.She is survived by her children, Arlene Stephens, Taylorsville; Barbara (Gary) Roberts, Sandy; Margy (Cal) Cook, West Jordan; Jim (Judy) Deakin, South Jordan; Dan (Pat) Deakin, Midvale; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were the love of her life; three sisters, Genevieve Gadd, Copperton; Barbara Franks, Kearns; Daryl Quayle, Ferron, UT. Preceded in death by her husband, son Richard, brother Eugene, son-in-law Roger Stephens.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Mountain Shadows 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 7925 South 2700 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, American Fork City Cemetery.
