About 70 percent of Marjorie Clements' fellow residents have moved into the city within the past decade.
Still, all can enjoy a shared history, said Clements, a fourth-generation Draper resident.Clements and other members of the Draper Historical Society Committee are publishing "People of Draper 1849-1924" - a comprehensive look at the Salt Lake Valley's southeastern-most settlers.
The book will be the first Draper history published since the community's centennial years ago. Two future volumes will complete a historical trilogy.
The committee began collecting histories from Draper families about three years ago.
"We were overwhelmed by the response; about 400 histories were submitted," Clements said.
Volume 1 was recently shipped to the publisher and should be available for the city's July 18 Draper Day festivities, Clements said.
