Karl Malone may be invited to visit the city later this year as part of a combined charity event for disadvantaged children and mountain man gathering.

Layton City manager Alex Jensen said the Out West Bed and Breakfast on West Gordon Avenue plans to stage a mountain man rendezvous this fall and wants to invite Utah Jazz star Malone, who's a fan of such gatherings.Jensen says the city's new E.P. Ellison Park, now under construction southwest of the bed and breakfast at 2200 W. Hill Field Road, could host the kids' charity event that Malone likes to stage, on the same day as the rendezvous.

He also wondered about some of the charity money going directly to Layton City to help children who can't afford to participate in youth sporting programs.

Jensen said he'd also strive to have Malone available to meet Layton children before the charity benefit.

Layton's new park isn't planned for a grand opening until October, but some of it might be usable by September.
