Bula Dot Fisher Garrett, 83, died June 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a brief illness.
She was born March 26, 1915 in Garfield, Utah to Orrin and Isabel Fisher. After graduating as valedictorian from East High School in 1932, she attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1936. On June 29th of the same year, she married James Raymond "Ray" Garrett in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their union was a loving and devoted one, and they raised their five children with tender and nurturing care.She led a marvelously productive life of service to all those around her. From 1961 until her retirement in 1987 she taught first grade at Hawthorne Elementary School in Salt Lake City, doing immeasurable good in hundreds of young lives. All who knew her admired her kindness, patience, generosity, and selflessness. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many different positions and wrote award-winning scripts for road shows. She was actively affiliated with Alpha Beta Theta and Alpha Delta Kappa sororities. Throughout her life she loved and actively cultivated the good, the true, and the beautiful.
Her husband, Ray, preceded her in death in 1972. She is survived by her five children, Myrna (Douglas) Mottonen; David (Jana) Garrett; Katherine (Brent) Porter; Don (Frances) Garrett, of Salt Lake City; Glen (Andrea) Garrett, of Burbank, CA; and her 13 grandchildren; by her sister, Lola Lloyd; and brother, Calvin (Alice) Fisher, of Salt Lake City.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 25th, at 12 noon, in the LDS Parleys First Ward chapel, 2350 So. 2100 East. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the ward, prior to service.
Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
