"We knew that the time was soon. Your spirit said so. But, you hung on long enough to say your good-byes and after your last visit, as if you knew all along, you slipped away June 22, 1998. The pain is gone now, Mother, and for that we are grateful. The loss we feel by your passing is hard to account for in words but we miss Mom."
Jan grew up in New Castle, PA, the oldest of four. While attending McMurray College, where she received degree, she fell in love with Don A. Johnson. They were sealed in the Logan temple in 1948. Children seemed to be their greatest joy, they had 12. Soon after their last child, she lost her eternal mate to liver cancer. The rest of her life was devoted to raising and caring for her children."Our home was a place of refuge for many people. It was in your nature to give the things you had to those in need. Your accomplishments were many, too many to list. Perhaps your greatest achievement lies within the principles that you taught your children: to love, to be true and to love again. Your spirit is alive within us Mother, and within our children, and will live on forever. You are gone but not forgotten and if your spirit can walk with the living, we know your presence is not far."
Survived by her children: Debbie, Don, Andy, Kristin, Sam, Nick, Jody, Melissa, Molly, Tim, Tom, and Margaret; also 49 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held, Friday, June 26th, 2 p.m. in the Beaver Dam Chapel. A viewing will be held, 12 noon, 16025 N. Beaver Dam Road.
