Gloria Mae Andrews Ashby, 82, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998 at an Ogden care center.
She was born January 13, 1916 in Fruita, Colorado, a daughter of William Elias and Winifred Ruth Pool Andrews. On February 25, 1933, Gloria married Horace Edwin Ashby in Woods Cross, Utah. Horace died June 27, 1964.She was raised and educated in Fruita, Colorado and had lived most of her life in Clearfield. Gloria was a member of the LDS Church where she served as an organist, chorister, Primary teacher, Young Women's MIA counselor and teacher. She served as president and in other positions in the following organizations: Sweet Adelines, Federal Women's Club, Business Professional Women's Club, N.A.R.F. and the Council on Aging.
Gloria was a people person - very giving of herself. Although she'll be missed by her family and friends, it was time for her to return to her Heavenly Father, husband, son, parents, brother and sister who were waiting to greet her. She was very much loved by her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are one son and one daughter, Ralph (Barbara) Ashby, Salt Lake City; Joan L. (Bud) Price, Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son (Richard Lee Ashby), one brother and one sister.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 5th Ward Chapel, 326 East Center Street. Friends may call at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street, on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel from 10-10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
