Jay C. Williams, 72, died on June 27, 1998, after a courageous battle against multiple health problems.

Jay was the son of George Thomas and Theona Withers Williams. He attended the Salt Lake City schools, Missouri State College, and graduated in business from the University of Utah. He worked for Utah Power and Light, was president of Utah Gas Service, and retired from American Stores.Jay was interested in all sporting events and participated in many. He bowled in several leagues, loved golf, and was one of the original members of Willow Creek County Club. Jay was interested in animal welfare and actively helped with fundraising.

Jay leaves his loving wife, Joyce Romney Williams, and two daughters, Jody (Bruce J.) Nelson and Julie Anderson of California. He adored his four grandchildren, Jeff, Brett (serving a mission in Hungary), Taylor and Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 645 East 400 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84102, or the Humane Society of Utah, 4242 South 3rd West, Murray, UT 84107.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 1998, 12 noon, Monument Park 4th Ward, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue. Friends may call Tuesday, June 30, 1998, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, and one hour prior to the service at the ward. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
