A couple driving on the Florida Turnpike shared one last kiss before their car slammed into a pickup truck parked on the side of the road, killing the boyfriend, authorities said.

"I guess this shows kissing can be deadly while driving," said Florida Highway Patrol Cpl. Mike Long.Jerold Luckhurst, 37, of Pompano Beach died at the crash scene Saturday. His girlfriend, Robin Resnick Fern, 33, of Wilton Manors, was treated for minor injuries and released.

It wasn't clear exactly when Fern lost control of the car, but witnesses said it was weaving in and out of traffic before it hit the truck.

No one was in the pickup truck, which was parked on the shoulder. A trooper had noticed it there and called in a warning about it approximately 10 minutes before the accident, Long said.

Luckhurst and Fern both were wearing safety belts.
