BYU library director to lead state group

SHARE BYU library director to lead state group

Larry Ostler, personnel director at Brigham Young University's Harold B. Lee Library, has been elected president of the 600-member Utah Library Association.

During his one-year term, Ostler will represent library interests at the state legislature, oversee fund-raising efforts and preside over the group's annual conference and board meetings.Ostler believes that the group's continuing education programs are essential to building library services statewide. He says libraries must pursue new computer technologies to offer equal service to everyone.

Ostler, who has been with BYU's Lee Library since 1984, currently oversees the personnel needs of more than 500 library employees.
