Afterthoughts

There is a slight groundswell among Republicans for the nomination of George W. Bush, the son of the former president. If the Democrats nominate Al Gore, the 20th century could end not with a bang, but two whimpers.

- Bush supporters say that he has all of his father's attributes and none of his flaws. I suppose that means Bush the younger would knock off Saddam Hussein and that his running mate would not be Dan Quayle.- Quayle could be elected president on his own, but first he would have to start registering as many dead people as possible.

- What excites the Bush boosters most is his name recognition. I guess birthright is as good a qualification as any for high office, even though we dumped the idea along with the mother country back in 1776.
