For the next six weeks there's a bounty being offered by the Health Department for unsafe child car seats.

People are invited to bring in safety seats for inspection and trained checkers will look over the seats for recall numbers, proper installation and child fit.The free checkpoint is Tuesday between 3:30 and 6 p.m. at the American Fork Kmart store, 175 N. West State Road.

Those who turn in unsafe seats will receive a 10 percent discount toward the purchase of a new seat and a coupon for a dozen free Einstein Brothers Bagels.

Four out of every five car safety seats are used incorrectly, and automobile accidents claim more children's lives than any other cause in Utah.

Unsafe seats include those made before 1981, seats that have been in use for more than six years, seats with damaged or missing components and seats that have been involved in accidents.

Those deemed unsafe may be exchanged though Aug. 10, 1998.
