Lila Bjorklund, founder of the Utah Youth Village, was named the Daily Point of Light recently.

In 1969, Bjorklund helped start the Utah Girls Village for troubled and abused girls. The program began to accept boys and changed its name to the Utah Youth Village in 1989.Bjorklund, 83, spent countless hours building the program to its current size: serving more than 300 children a year in group homes and therapeutic foster homes.

The Daily Point of Light Awards are given daily by the Points of Light Foundation and the Knights of Columbus.
