Marianne Croft, a second grader at Fiddler's Canyon Elementary School, Cedar City, was recently the grand prize winner of the statewide Arbor Day poster contest.
Her poster was also judged best in the southern region and is being reproduced for distribution to schools throughout Utah.She is the recipient of a $100 U.S. savings bond and a plaque signed by Gov. Mike Leavitt. Her school was to receive a $1,000 award.
Other state winners, each of whom receives a $75 bond: Malea Kennison, Nephi, Nephi Elementary; Mike Lee, Provo, Wasatch Elementary; Travis Brown, Morgan, Morgan Elementary; AnnaLyssa Powell, West Valley City, Monroe Elementary; Lindsey Wayment, Ogden, West Weber Elementary; and Sheena Knudson, Hildale, Washington County, Phelps Elementary.
