A UTA bus was evacuated Friday as police investigated a device sprouting tubes and wires that passengers feared was a bomb, according to Salt Lake City police Lt. Dennis Tueller.
A passenger on a Utah Transit Authority bus called UTA at about 5:45 p.m. Friday, saying a bomb had possibly been placed on the bus. Salt Lake City police were dispatched to about 1000 N. 1200 West.The bus was evacuated, and bomb technicians examined the object Tueller described as "an unusual looking contraption, with tubes and and a couple of wires." Minutes later, police determined the device was not a bomb. No passengers were injured, and another bus was dispatched to continue the route.
