Poufitu Mataitoa Tuia Jr., 24, passed away June 26, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born October 16, 1973 in Motootua Apia, Western Samoa, the son of Poufitu and Fiapaipaiitamalii Lelesiuao Tuia. Poufitu served in the LDS Oakland, Tongan California Mission.He is survived by his parents; grandmother, Nora Lelesiuao; sisters, Ruth (Ioane) Nautu, Caroline (Johnny) Blackmon, Lavern Tuia, Faamalepe Tuia; brothers, Lilomaiava (Darilene), Murray, George; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and his dearly loved fiancee, Corian Olsen and daughter, Alya Faalele Tuia. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Soonalote Lelesiuao, sister Ardis Tuia, grandparents, Iosefa and Faalevela Tuia.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor of the University of Utah Hospital Respiratory unit and friends, relatives and members of the Granger 3rd Ward.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 3, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the Granger West Stake Center, 3935 West 2935 South. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-10 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates.
