The fatal stabbing of a local businessman took not only his life but the life of his father, who apparently suffered a heart attack while rushing to his son's side. It was the first killing on this resort island in 20 years.
Troy A. Toon, 24, of Boston, was arrested in connection with the killing and jailed Saturday.Neighbors reported a disturbance early Saturday near an auto repair business run by Gary Moreis, 37, and police found him collapsed nearby, police Chief Joseph Carter said.
Moreis' father, Peter, 66, collapsed as he rushed to see his injured son. The elder Moreis died less than two hours later and his son died after being taken to Boston Medical Center.
Police said they know of no prior connection between Moreis and Toon.
