There's been no talk of singing "There She Is," but former quarterback Boomer Esiason will host the 78th annual Miss America Pageant.
"One thing's for sure," Esiason said, "It's a far cry from a Monday night in the booth with Al (Michaels) and Dan (Dierdorf)."Esiason, 37, will be paired with "The View" co-host Meredith Vieira on the 2 1/2-hour telecast Sept. 19, ABC and pageant officials said.
Why Esiason? He's young, cute and already part of ABC's lineup as an analyst for "Monday Night Football" beginning this fall, said Miss America Pageant CEO Leonard Horn.
Whether the job lasts more than one year depends on how well Esiason does, Horn said.
