Robert Edwin Carruthers, 66, of Bountiful, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, as a result of a car accident in Dillon, Montana.

Robert was a Master Mason of the Bonneville Lodge No. 31 in Bountiful as well as a Brother of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J. in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed cooking, camping, traveling, puttering and fixing and making any and everything he could with his hands. In his death he takes with him the love of so many friends and family and the millions of memories shared by all. He enters his new life truly as a millionaire.He was born on December 28, 1931, in Missoula, Montana. His parents, Finlay and Eleanor Carruthers preceded him in death; as well as his sister, Lois.

Robert and his wife, Shirley, were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, March 2, 1961. For 33 years, he worked for Farmer Brothers Co. as a salesman and a manager in Missoula and Billings, Montana, as well as in Salt Lake City.

Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean of Bountiful; three daughters, Cynthia of Billings, MT; Bettina of Boise, ID; and Ronda of Zagreb, Croatia; his sister, Betty Ruth of Green Acres, WA; six grandchildren, Rachel, Geoffrey, Jenny, Justin, Michelle, and Fletch; one great-grandson, Charles Williams; his niece, Sharon; three nephews, Gary, Mark and Daron; and one grandkitty, Katenka.

Memorial service will be held Friday, July 17th, at 7 p.m. at the Bountiful Community Church, 100 North 400 East, Bountiful, with Rev. Alan Kelchner, Pastor, officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's name be made to the American Heart Assoc. Utah Affiliate, 645 E. 400 South, SLC, UT 84102.
