Ila May Mitchell Holt, 79, of East Carbon, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 1998 in Price, UT.
She was born November 25, 1918 in Upalco, UT, to Hugo Kenneth Mitchell and Martha Marrett. She married Verl James Holt, Sept 13, 1935 in Duchesne, UT; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including Relief Society and Primary presidents. She was a retired cook for the Senior Citizens of East Carbon, and served as a volunteer for them for the last several years. The light of he life was her family, and she rejoiced in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She loved to crochet and embroider and always made things to give to others. Ila loved gardening and especially working in her flowers. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Survived by her sons: Verl Delale (JoAnn) Holt, of Sandy, UT; Mitchell J Holt and James H (Ramona) Holt, of East Carbon; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchild; brothers: victor Mitchell, of WA; Marcus Mitchell, of South Jordan, UT; Benny Mitchell, of Duchesne, UT; and Jack Mitchell, of West Valley City, UT; sisters: Lela Galloway, of WY; Beth Evans, of West Valley City, UT; Wanda Bastain, of Neola, UT; Ione Baggs, of Ogden, UT; Nona Allred, of West Joran, UT: and Lorna Squire, of Mona, UT. Preceded in death by husband, one daughter, Janice Leek, two brothers, Loal Mitchell and Willis Mitchell.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the East Carbon LDS Chapel. Friends and family may call Friday, July 17, 7-9 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary in Price, and one hour prior to service in the East Carbon Chapel. Burial will be in the Price City Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
