Audition notices

Auditions have been scheduled for several upcoming Wasatch Front stage productions.

- Salt Lake Acting Company is holding auditions for Terrence McNally's "Master Class" on Wednesday, July 22, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the theater, 168 W. 500 North.David Mong is directing. There are roles for two women, both sopranos, from 25 to 35 years of age, and one man, a tenor, also 25 to 35. There will be cold readings from the script. Auditioners will also be asked to sing 16 bars from a Puccini or Verdi opera (your choice). An accompanist will be provided. Please call SLAC at 363-0526 to arrange an audition time. The auditions will be conducted in 10-minute time slots.

Bring a current photograph and resume.

Play dates are Sept. 23-Nov. 1.

- Provo Theatre Company's production of "Steel Magnolias," on Saturday, July 18, from noon to 6 p.m. at PTC, 105 E. 100 North.

Directed by Susan Whitenight, the all-female cast has roles for those ranging in age from 17 to 60. Come prepared with a one-minute monologue. There will also be cold readings from the script using a Southern dialiect. Bring a resume and photograph.

Call backs will be July 21. Play dates are Sept. 24-Oct. 30. Rehearsals begin this month. For further information, call 379-0600 (leave a message for Justin or Brenda).

- Babcock Performing Readers' coproduction (with the University of Utah Department of Theatre) on Monday, July 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Room 115 of the Performing Arts Building (west of the campus book store).

There are roles for one man and one woman, both 18 to 25 years of age, and six men and three women, ranging from 35 to 60, in "The Due Process: Hiram Be Bee, Alias the Sundance Kid," a new play written by Shirlee H. Shields. Fran Pruyn is directing.

There will be cold readings from the script. Please bring a current resume.

Performances will be Sept. 3-5 and 10-12 in the Babcock Theatre. For further information, call 582-0991.

- Plan-B Theatre Company, 1102 W. 400 North (the New Hope Center), will hold auditions on Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for "The PBTC Radio Theatre Show," the replication of a live radio performance combining two radio plays, Steve Rasmussen's "Junket to Mindar" and Tobin Atkinson's adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Rats in the Walls."

Plan-B is looking for actors who are comfortable with improvisation, have good comic timing and can perform a variety of character voices. Roles are open for three men and two women, all ages. Actors will receive a $100 stipend.

Actors must schedule an audition time or obtain copies of the radio plays by calling Jennifer at 583-3920. Call backs will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.

The production will be codirected by Cheryl Ann Cluff, Plan-B's artistic director, and Mark Cantor of the Desertaire live radio show.

Rehearsals begin Sept. 1. Performances are Oct. 15-Nov. 7.

- West Valley Arts Council's auditions for "West Side Story" will be held on Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at City Hall, 3600 Constitution Blvd.

All roles are open for performers 17 years of age and up. Come prepared to sing 16 bars of a Broadway song. Please wear appropriate dance attire. Performers with a strong dance and music background are needed.
