A July 14 letter commented on the sickening fact that children murdered at an earlier age (as in the example of the living newborn discarded by his parents) are "worth less" in terms of penalty than adults. Even more bizarre is the fact that, if the couple had hired a professional to murder their child a few hours or days earlier by the horrific procedure known as "partial-birth abortion" (not legal in most states), there would have been no "crime" and all is well. Except the baby would have been just as dead.
In brief and without getting too graphic, a partial-birth abortion forces an "almost birth" of a child and then murders the infant by sucking its brain out. This is not science-fiction; this is disgusting fact. It is hard to imagine that people would actually want to do this type of thing to their own children. And yet, back up just a day to the July 13 Letters to the Editor where a Salt Lake resident complained that it would be "cruel" (the actual term used) if women were not allowed to have a partial-birth abortion at will. This is indeed a day where people call evil good and good evil.
