Delegates to the 60th convention of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod spoke out this week against "the continued promotion of immorality and violence in the entertainment media" and asked church agencies to express public concern over its "harmful impact."

A resolution also urged members to make their discontent know to Hollywood producers and directors, but a proposed amendment to join the Southern Baptist Convention boycott of Disney failed.Delegates also urged members to fight the spread of pornography, obscenity, indecency, gambling and violence. "Let us not be silent on issues that are killing our society," said the Rev. Paul S. Woebbeking, Windom, Minn.

"Our nation continues to experience a breakdown of family life and an erosion of those family values that are based on the scriptures," according to one resolution, which asked congregations to "build a comprehensive ministry to people in families."
