Charles E. Mitchener Jr., 74, who served 22 years as executive secretary of the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association of the Church and 17 years as executive secretary of the Sunday School, died July 3. He served with the YMMIA from 1955-77, and with the Sunday School from 1977-94, retiring after 39 years on the general level of the Church. During World War II, he served in a combat engineering battalion in Europe and Okinawa.
